YouTube Tools & Utilities

Useful tools for YouTube links, live streams and multi-stream viewing.

StreamTiles is built for watching several YouTube live streams side by side. Around that sit a few small jobs that come up again and again: finding out whether a stream is actually live, getting a video's ID or embed URL from a link, looking at a thumbnail, or sharing a set of streams as one link. This section collects lightweight tools for those jobs, so they sit next to the viewer instead of in a dozen scattered tabs.

Why these tools?

Watching more than one live stream usually starts before the viewer opens. You have a few links, and you want to know which are live, which have ended, and which won't play outside YouTube. If you run a site or a community page, you may also need an embed URL, a video ID or a thumbnail for the same stream. These tools are meant to cover that groundwork.

They're aimed at people who follow several streams at once, such as news, events or music, people who share stream lists with friends or colleagues, and anyone embedding or referencing YouTube live streams elsewhere. The multi-stream link tool is the closest to the core product: it will build a link that opens your chosen streams together in a StreamTiles workspace, the same kind of view you can already create on Watch.

Each tool will do one thing and stay out of the way. Until they arrive, you can add streams directly on Watch, or start from a ready-made setup in the templates.

Questions about the tools

Are the tools available yet?

Not yet. This page introduces the collection StreamTiles plans to build. Tools are added one at a time, and each one gets its own page and a link here when it's ready. Watching streams and opening templates work as usual in the meantime.

Do I need an account to use the tools?

No account is needed to view this page, and the tools are planned to work without one, like the rest of StreamTiles.

How are the tools related to the Watch page?

Watch is where you view up to six YouTube live streams together. The tools cover the steps around that: checking a stream, getting its video ID or embed URL, and putting several stream links into one shareable StreamTiles link.

Are the tools affiliated with YouTube?

No. StreamTiles is an independent service and isn't affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by YouTube or Google. Whether a stream is live, embeddable or available is decided by YouTube and the stream's owner.

More about the viewer itself is in the full FAQ and on how StreamTiles works.
